I am considering a frontier rear blade for some very light road work and leveling areas in the woods. I do have the iMatch and I am wondering if any one else is useing a Frontier rear blade.

plots, what do you use it for ? I have a spot that I am trying to level for a elevated blind. I would rather not have several yards of 23a dumped so I can level it. The soil has a lot of small roots and I was haveing a bit of a tough time working it with the FEL. I did have a Beavis and Butthead pop up when I was done though as I realized I was in 2wd. oops. I was thinking this would be a great use for a rear blade. Any thoughts ? ....

It would work great for what your doing. I use mine to keep my road graded, I've also used it to rip sod off some of my plots before disking.I really need a hyd top link , that would keep you from mounting and dismounting tractor to set cut angles so often. ....

I picked the frontier blade up yesterday and took it up north today. I notice they are made by Woods. I used it for about two hours leveling a spot for the elevated blind filling holes and gradeing my roads. It works great. Now a land scape rake, mower and and and ! ....

Just one word of caution. Pull it, don't push it. Over the winter I used my Frontier 6' rear blade to plow snow. I turned the blade around and pushed the snow backwards with the tractor. On the flat it worked fine, but going downhill I caught the corner of the blade on some frozen gravel and bent it backwards about 18" from straight. As it was brand new, and I thought a bit flimsy for what I paid ($500), my dealer remounted a new blade and reinforced it at no charge. The next one I buy will be the heavy duty version. ....

Ken I use the FEL for snow. I saw a couple of tractors that were pretty beat up from plowing with the rear blade especially the tires on the grays where they had switched from a catagory 0 to a catagory 1 3 pt hitch, er well they tried any how. After that I was pretty much convinced that plowing in reverse was not the thing to do. With the FEL you can tip up the bucket just a titch so its not scrapeing and does not grab any seams or cracks in the concretete etc.
I am glad to hear that your dealer got you fixed up. I did hit a small stump going kinda fast. I found out I needed to slow down but the blade is fine. ....

a box blade is much stronger than a regular blade plus having the teeth it will dig the high spots up then the rear of the box catches it and drags it where you want it. there is also a front and rear cuttin edge, plus the heavier blade aids in leveling. mine is a frontier BB1060. payed $200 part of the deal when I bought my tractor, could have got any imp for that much except loader when buying tractor when I got mine. ....

Sounds like you got a deal for The $. I'm sure they must be at least a couple hundred more than the rear blade. This sure made light work out of gradeing my trails, a whole lot easier than trying to use the FEL. ....
