I'm not sure if I'm in the correct forum, if not, I apologize.
Need as much information on a IH 255 compact tractor as possible. Auction coming up in a few days has 1 and I'm interested in it. What h.p.? Engine? Power steering? etc.... Advantages and Disadvantages.
Any information would be a great help and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Never seen one, but my tractor guide lists it as being built from '87-'93, 2wd or 4wd, 65 cu. in. diesel by Mitsubishi with 9F-3R gears, 21 PTO HP and weighs ~1700-2000 pounds. Hope it helps.

I had an IH 234, an earlier model to the 235,245,255 and 275 series.
I have in my hot little hand the sales brochure for the 200 series.
The 255 was listed as having 24 engine hp, with 64.75 cu displacement. 21 hp pto. It appears to be the only one of the 200 series rated at 2800 rpm. (all the others were 2700 rpm. The biggest of the 200 series was the 275 rated at 31 engine hp, with 27 pto hp. MFWD was an option on all.
My 234 was a great little tractor, but at only 18 hp I wanted to get bigger so I went with a used NH1630, (the early Boomer model). I ran the 234 for 9 years for a trade in difference of $1,000. I the 234 had more hp, (even though the 18 hp it had worked well), I might have kept it. The mitsubishi diesel was great.
Good luck. ....
