Looking into buying my first compact, would appreciate input on pros and cons of setting up tractor with a front end loader and rear snowblower, or front end blower.

Do both the front and rear have the same capacity, it appears that the rear snowblower from pictures is larger in terms of depth cut. Also would like to know pros and cons of mid mount mower to rear mower.

Have 6 acres with a 200 ft driveway. all responses greatly appreciated.

A mid-pto is virtually required for MMM or front blower. A combination of 3ph blower and loader is what I use for snow removal. Even with the blower I use the loader for snow a lot and I wouldn't want to give up the loader for a front blower. Front blowers are easier to drive and I'd probably change my attitude if I had long roadways to clear.

As is obvious, 3ph blowers are driven in reverse. Less obvious is that PTO implements are used at PTO engine RPM. With a gear TX, changing gears is the only was to change ground speed. A TX that provides 2 reverse gears works OK and many people use them for 3ph blowers. My gear TX has 4 reverse gears and provides better choice of speeds. HST TX's loose a bit of power compared to gear TX's but they don't have the ground speed problem.

I'm not sure there's any inherent difference in capacity between front and rear blowers. 3ph blowers probably provide a wider range of choice in size and capacity. However, a front blower is a pretty big thing to push around corners and maintaining steering may be a problem so perhaps there is a tendency for front blowers to be smaller. However, physical size can be deceiving. The capacity of a 2-stage blower is more related to the diameter and RPM of the fan than to the height of the box and auger. My blower box is around 3' high but I have to go very slow to clear 3' of snow because or the fan doesn't clear snow off the auger fast enough.

If finish mowing and snow blowing are the main interests, then turf tires or maybe R4's would be better than ags. Hydraulic chute control for blowers are convenient but a 3ph blower would require a rear hydraulic outlet. Rear hydraulics are good to have for many reasons. I hope this comments tees up some things that need to be thought about. There likely will be some good comments about mowers so I'll stop here.

I really like the BX series for your application as it works fine for many people even up to 10 acres as much as I like to see the larger models used when near that 10 acre mark. The opening on the blower has little to do with how much it puts out. Look at the size of the blower not the mouth. the higher quality blowers have curved paddles and often more than 4 paddles in the larger units. The blower is what counts as it does no good to put it in if you can't get it out. The rear blower is just like the mower, a little less money but if you want to get a stiff neck this would help you get there. The rear mower is definitly easier to put on and off, but it is far easier to trim with a mid mount as you only have to look down instead of back to see where you are. The second part of the mowing is you only have one set of wheels riding over the ground on a mid mower and if you are wet when mowing look for more skips on a rear mower. ....
