Would like to know if anyone has used a landscape rake to plow snow.I have a plow set up on the loader arms, and thought it would be handy to also have a back blade turned forward to bring snow away from garage doors, etc.out to where i can get it with the front plow. I have a fairley heavey ( Danuser ) rake and if that will work ok i wouldn't bother spending the money on a blade. Also thought maybe I could bolt sone kind of blade to teeth on rake.Any info would be appreaciated. I dinged a few buildings when I first got the tractor--had a lapse and recently broke a tail light lens on my trailer. Generally, I try not to be too fine with the tractor and thereby don't mash too many things. Using the loader bucket to back-drag snow away from the door and shoveling the rest would be close enough for me. But maybe I'm spoiled since I can blow or plow across the door and get pretty close.

Box scrapers are sometimes used for something like your idea. Scrapers have side plates so they can drag snow out from between parked cars without pushing snow under the cars off the blade ends--guess that would create aggravated car owners. Don't know but I often think of box scrapers and landscape rakes as sort of going together. I'm not sure how useful a cheap back blade might be, but a decent scraper and rake might compliment each other.

On some makes York for one they have a small blade that does drop down so you could use it as a light back blade if needed. They have it hinged from the top and it is about 6" high. It would make it worth while for your application. ....
