I am looking to purchase a P-540 Pronovost snow blower. I live in Maryland and dealers are hard to find. I would like to find a few dealers in the north east. Does any one know of any? After reading everything in these pages, it seems like Pronovost is one of the very best. I've contacted the manufacture and they only provided the name of their district representative in Troy,PA.,But there must be a dealer somewhere that has one in stock. Thank You for any help. Henry

Henry:
I had the same problem. I live in Minnesota. The Quebec headquarters forwarded to me the email address for my district represative. I contacted him 2 times and then he finally responded. He said he would get a list of dealers to me but I have yet to receive this information. He did say that they were just starting to enter my region. I have never seen one of their snowblowers on any dealer lots around here. I live in the home territories of Loftness, Lorenz and Erskine blowers. The Allied and Farm King brands are made not far away in Manitoba. They can be found everywhere around here. After alot of reading up on the machines I know that those 2 (Actually identical) are not for me. Too thin on the sheet metal and skimpy on the hardware. If I can't get ahold of a Pronovost I will probaby get an Erskine or Loftness. Loftness is the best quality of them all and they are also the most expensive. Good luck! ....

I have successfully run an Allied for 10 years and never had a problem not even a chain or u-joint, still looks as new. 1/3 the price of the Erskin or Provost. Erskin are made here in Erskin Mn. my home state and are a good blower but spendy. Allied is made by Bueler in Canada. ....

Be sure to check out Loftness - their quality is excellent and they are very well built. I've owned their 8' and now have a 6' on order. You can find them @ www.snowblowers.com

A bit of a distance from Maryland, but Keats, Keene, New Hampshire, is a Pronovost dealer (603-352-1510). They had a leftover P-540 in their yard a few weeks ago. ....

Hi,

I can't help but throw in a plug for kubota here. I have a 52" rear mount on my Case/IH and it has lasted 15 years with only a shear pin. When I changed the gear oil and the manual spec'd an oil not avail, Kubota in Japan immediately responded with an e-mail (overnight) and suggested an alternative that has worked great. They have been super and the blower with the hyd rotator from the remote valves of the Case/Cub Cadet/Mitsi works super. This quality comes at a price $$$ though. ....

Since this site has been such a help to me over the last few months as I researched out my snowblower purchase, I wanted to give back to it by sharing how my purchase went and what I ended up with.

I live in Minnesota. I purchased an Erskine rear mounted snowblower. Erskine is now a division of Bobcat. They have discontinued their rear mounted line of blowers and are now focusing only on front mounted blowers to serve their parent company needs. I got one of the last rear mounted ones.
780R 78" wide 3 pt snowblower with hydraulic chute rotation and 1-3x8 cylinder with hoses and standard skid shoes, 2450.00 no tax
I spent alot of time on the snowblower decision. Farm King/Allied is the big seller around here and is cheapest. I wanted one with 4 blades in the box, heavy duty chains and more heavy duty construction. I looked a Pronovost and Loftness also. Loftness Mfg is very near where I live. They make all the blowers sold under the New Holland name plus their own line. They are the top of the line in construction and in price. Pronovost is right behind them but their presence here is small and the dealer was farther away. They lost my sale due to making me feel that my purchase was not important to them. My purchase to them would be like buying a tootsie roll would be to me! I settled on the middle. Time will tell if I have made the best decision. Thanks to all for the help they gave through the various threads!
