I rented an Earthforce small TLB for a day. Pretty impressive machine. According to the rental guy, who is NOT a dealer for them, the machine is put together using all brand name components (hydraulic pumps, cylinders, trans, etc.). The one I rented was the smallest model, the EF-1. It had a Kohler 25HP twin air cooled motor. That model also comes with a Kubota 25HP diesel. But the guy said they could get a replacement Kohler for $1250 (they have a Kohler dealer account) so they went that route for the rental units. They are on a website at www.earthforce.net . I think the one I rented only costs about $13,000. I found the loader to be real strong. I did kill the motor a couple of times with heaping buckets loaded and trying to operate it like a big machine. The loader capacity is something like 2700 pounds at full height. The backhoe requires some patience, it is easy to get it into position where it can't do anything except lift back out and take a different approach. Again it cannot be used like a big TBL. However, the rental guys said it is light-years ahead of the other compact TBLs out there in terms of smooth operating systems. I don't know if this is out of place on the CTB, but since so many of you use compacts as a TBL I thought maybe you'd like to hear of my experience. I am not a dealer or any such thing. -Don M

Don, I took a look at the website you mentioned in your posting, What an interesting machine, I had to request some information from them. I think I may even take a ride to the dealer which is only an hour or so away from me here in New Hampshire, just so I can drool on one and get a closer look. Thanks for the posting, probably never would have known they exhisted with out it. Mark ....
