I've been plowing snow recently with my JD855 with 4wd, loader and turf tires. I was thinking chains would be helpful. Can anyone recommend a source and/or give a ballpark price range I should be looking for?Thanks--Bud Reed

Bud, try the link below to get to tirechains.com. Their selection is great and their prices are representative. You may have to look under garden tractors or another category than tractor tires for your front turf tires, but I bet they have that size. ....

Thanks very much! I went to the site, and it says they have the chains in stock. I tried to order them via the shopping cart, but it doesn't seem to be working at the moment. I can call them tomorrow via phone, however, and place the order. Thanks for such a quick reply!

Regards, Bud Reed

I haven't logged on in a while but saw your post and had to comment. I just purchased a set of studded ice chains for my JD1070 from a supplier of Logging gear called Labonville in Gorham NH (tel# 800-764-9969). The chains are OFA chains formerly Ovako from finland made of boron steel and case hardened. The price is $450. for a pair of 3/8 "H" pattern "Hakki" chains that will sit nicely on top of your tread. Shipping wt is 218 lbs so shipping may be prohibitive. The quality seems excellent as it should be for that kind of money. A picture can be seen on valby.net or northeastimplement.com if my memory serves. North East Implement in Spencer,NY gets almost twice as much for the same chain. A container of chains just came in and I know that they were going fast since many guys like me had been waiting 8 weeks for the new shipment. These are aggressive chains and I don't think you would want to use them on a hot topped drive. The chains will most probably need to be cut down in length since for my 13.6x28 ags I still had to cut a foot off. Goodluck ....

Sorry about the incorrect site info. OFA chains can be seen at valbysales.com and are advertised as the square mat chain although better prices are found from Labonville. ....
