How do I size my tractor Hydrolic pump (5.6 gal/min @ 2000 psi) to power a 15" dia. 5" high fins (It will produce 2000 cfm at 3750 rpm's)Also Im interested in building ideas for a 3 point hitch lawn vac. thanks

As an Engineer I can tell you the formulae is rather complex, and probably more than the average person wants to tackle. However, the short answer is to find a similar-sized gas-powered blower and look at what hp the drive engine is, then just ask the hydraulic supplier for an engine that puts out a similar power. As a word of caution though, hyd. motors become less efficient at higher speeds, which is what you want for a blower, you need to either, run more power and gear the blower to run faster than the motor, or try another power supply, such as belt driven from the engine. For what I know you have the ability to run about what a 3 horsepower motor would. I think you are a little short by about 1/2 of what you need. I also don't think it would work for long unless you more than doubled your hydaulic resivior in order to allow the oil to cool. ....
