at least as fun as fishing ... maybe more. Last Saturday I started preparing some virgin ground for a large garden. My clay is rock hard in summer, but somewhat soft with rain so my light 4100 could pull a subsoiler (single scarifer) about 10 inches deep, maybe more or less and sometimes it took a second pass. After breaking the ground up, I added a small furrow (double moldboard ?) to turn soil over and criss-crossed the patch thoroughly. It felt like riding a slow moving bucking bronco. Then I ran out of light and closed up for the night. Next the ground gets tilled, and I'll be adding mulch and organics to start improving the soil. And then planting starts. All said, tractoring sure is fun! I'm constantly amazed at these machines, how quickly they get so much work done. Thanks to all of you for your wisdom and encouragement, and to the Webmaster for this site. JonB
