Hey, I admit it. I am a member of the fat guys (big boned) club. I have my mother's thighs. I can't help it. But the DSCV control on the 4000 series must have been designed by engineers with a 26" waist and a pair of thighs to match. Whenever I look back to check the 7' rear mounted blade on the 4600 my right leg pushes against the control valve lever and the loader mounted front 6' blade drops usually to the point of digging into my driveway. Anyone else have this problem? In my opinion that stick is too close to the seat. Anyone agree?

Terry, I agree!!! How I work around it is to lock it out of service when I am using a 3-pt implement, then you can bump it all you want without any action. Also works good with my little grandson on board lol. GA ....

I have (or I should say had) the same problem with my JD4500 and 460 loader. I cut the joy stick off just above the offset in the shaft, threaded the end of the shaft and threaded the control knob back on---Problem solved. I also shortened the gearshift lever in a loke manner. I now have plenty of room in the operators station and at 6'4" the controls are in a natural position for me to reach. You would be amazed how this improves operator comfort and control. ....

I, too, am "big-boned" (plus I don't miss many meals) and have found my right thigh constantly in competition with the DSCV control on my 4400. It helped some to move the seat up closer than I normally would, especially for using the reverse hydro pedal. I'm going to strongly consider the suggestion to decaptitate the DSCV contol lever - this might work out well. ....
