A friend of mine has a Belarus 1770 that will not start. It appears that it just is not getting fuel. I might purchase this tractor from him if i think i can fix it? Anyone have any experience with the 1770? Are they a decent tractor as far as reliability goes? Advice is appreciated Thanks

A Tractor that does not run is an expensive paper weight, just kidding. It is not the most reliable tractor as you can see it does not run. That said for very very little money it is a tractor and beats a shovel hands down. If you are super handy why not give it a try?

If you have the cash a Kubota, Deere, Kioti or other more popular machine will give lots of trouble free use IMHO. ....

Sir are you mechanical inclined enough to follow some basic simple direction on how to make sure you have fuel going to the fuel pump, start at the tank make sure there is fuel coming from the tank through the fuel supply line to the filter inlet then check if you have fuel coming out of the filter to the injection pump, then make sure your fuel shutdown is working properly, if you could give us more details I. Sure we can get you issue resolved kind regards Gary ....

Sir on the side opposite of the throttle lever you will see a bolt with a steel line wrapped around it that has to be removed it's the fill level indicator, above it is a small plug that's the fill plug below on the bottom about the center of the pump is the drain plug,on the bolt that holds the steel line on is 2 copper washers don't loose them they are important ,me personally I'd use sae 30 nondetergant oil it takes about 8 Oz hope this helps ....

Thanks. i found the drain plug and i supposed the plug with the vent tube was most likely the fill level but was unsure because i thought that might be to a different internal cavity. well anyway i found a spec for a T 150K tractor and the spec was 120 cc fill engine oil. i removed the vent plug on top of the timing indicator and filled there. i found a small plastic plug above the fill level indicator thought it might be a fill port? ....

haven't hooked to any tools yet. today i sorted out a few air leaks and adjusted the regulator. the park brake still isn't working --- i think the air cylinder might be stuck so i backed off of the adjustment so it won't drag. the main brakes are working great as is the clutch. i will change all oils next. ....

do you have any idea of the correct oil specs for the transmission, hydraulics and steering? i guess it is alright to use an EP type oil in the differential and final drives? the sticker on the hydraulic tank warns to use engine oil only in the hydraulics. the temps here in the summer can get to 110F pretty easy so i wonder if 30 wt in the transmission is enough? my book is for a 1500 or a T 150K . ....

it is probably a 1994 or newer tractor. the hour meter shows just a little over 800 hours and i think it is accurate. the stickers with the tire pressure recommendations are still on the wheels and it still has the original tires on it badly checkered but barely worn. it has been sitting for a long time. i had to order a throttle cable from Mcmaster Carr to replace the frozen one so no field work until i get that and change all of the oils and filters. ....

MTCW on the matter.
It's the roll of the dice.
If you can get it for scrap prices or less.
If you are mechanically incline and feel you can fix it.
If you have something else you can do with it for the money invested or you can scrap it to get your money back - should you not be able to get it working again.

In my case, I felt if ran but would not move I was willing to use it stationary with a wood chipper and/or wood splitter and I'd been happy with that for what I paid.
As a back up plan I knew I could sell it for scrap and get my money back - but not my time invested.
And again I was okay with that outcome either way.

So treat it as the worse case scenario and that is what it is worth or have them invest their time and money to get it running and you would be willing to pay more.
That's what I did - I gave them the option to make more by them doing some work to confirm it runs or not or they could just take my price as is.
They took my price. I did the rest.

Sorry I can't give you advice about that kind of tractor itself. I know nothing about them.

Good Luck,
Tony ....

Thanks. i payed scrap price for it and hauled it away non running. worst case would be i had to scrap it myself and i would loose money but not much. i got it running after i got it home in a few hours. i figured it might need an injector pump but as it turned out the problem was just a frozen throttle cable in the off position. now that i can see it run i will have to spend some time money getting it up to snuff. mainly it has rotten air hoses and stuff like that. the previous owner told me it ran when parked but had been sitting a long time because he thought the injector pump was bad and he didn't want to spend any money on it. one mans trash is another mans treasure? I am impressed with it's simplicity and ruggedness. i think it will be a hoss in the field. ....

i decided to stay close to original specs until i get more familiar with the tractor so i went with shell T1 in the engine and transmission and cenex iso 46 in the steering. i will use the shell T1 in the hydraulic for now also. funny thing i now have more money in the tractor than i paid for it! laugh! fixed the AC and balanced the air psi in the tires so it is almost ready for some work. i now understand why there isn't a workshop manual. "you don't need one" i am impressed with the simplicity of design. interesting engine oil filter. ....

well it's been an interesting summer learning the Belarus tractor. I got the oils and filters sorted out and most of the rubber hoses on the air supply replaced repaired along with a new air conditioner compressor. had a discussion with the factory rep in Ukraine and developed a supply contact in europe. i now have some spare parts on the shelf filters etc. the tractor is easy and simple to repair and parts are cheap but take a couple of weeks to get unless i can find domestic stuff. have a neighbor with a deere and a freightliner that sat for months waiting for parts so i don't feel to bad about that. the longest down i have had was a couple of days while i made my own exhaust gasket. the tractor is comfortable to run and is easy on fuel. so far i like it just fine. ....

Great story!

This Russia - Ukraine killing match, I don't recall anyone from anywhere buying anything from the North Vietnamese, or Afghanistan. Were we able to buy goods from partially occupied countries during WW II? Yet, the Ukraine is still open for business? Strange! ....

Parts should be available through the North American importer. If not directly they should be able direct you to a dealer much closer than Europe.

Both Belarus and Zetor tractors were pretty popular here in Canada as utility machines, especially for work in the woods, firewood, Maple syrup, etc.

Reach out to the distributor, contact info in the link below.

Best of luck. ....

thanks. i have been in contact with mtz equipment with some success but since this tractor is mfg in ukraine they don't have many parts. i have pretty much gotten this machine figured out and have been in contact with some people from the factory. i am learning a completely new way of product support . the big T150K tractor or 1770 as rebadged by the belarus company is really simple and reliable tractor. ....
