For some of you older Tractor guys like me I have made some very helpful discoveries about my prostate, bladder and nocturnal urination.
Before changing my habits I always had to get up at least once to pee, sometimes twice, and even three times at night. Gotta love that Prostate nad Bladder.
So here is what I did in the order that I think helped the most
1)Completely Stopped drinking Coffee caffinated or decaf, Tea, and soda. Only drink water no alcohol. Occasional milk on cereal. I had been drinking coffee only in the AM, but very strong caffinated and decaf, about 20 ounces. Enough coffee to give you the urgent need to urinate.
2)Try to eat dinner before 6:30PM, last snack no later than 7:00PM
3)Take Saw Palmetto extract
Making these changes, I do not need to get up at night. Amazing !
Pretty simple and worth a try if you do not enjoy nocturia. While my urologist told me that Coffee was a bladder irritant it did not dawn on me that what I was doing in the AM could effect my sleep as well.

Cialis has been found to help with prostate. There are two dosages that are daily dosages of 2.5 and 5 I think mg. At least in the USA those dosages are normally covered by health insurance for the prostate health. There is a generic of it. Good RX also helps on its cost with some pharmacies, Kroger being one. About $20 per 90 day supply. ....

Doc had me on Cialis and the insurance company nixed it. I’m on something called Flomax now and insurance is happy. I wish that I could say that it worked but it sure isn’t perfect.
I read somewhere that a cup of coffee hangs around in your system for six hours. I generally don’t touch the stuff after about noon. On the other hand, wife likes it really strong so we buy the beans and grind them fresh every couple of days. Probably not a good idea with BPH AKA benign prostate hyperplasia AKA peeing at night. I know that ours is strong because McD’s coffee tastes like colored water to me.
I have to try saw palmetto. Thanks to you guys for the tip. ....

I have to update my original post in which I said 3 things helped STOP night time urination:
1) Stopped drinking Coffee
2)Try to eat dinner before 6:30PM, last snack no later than 7:00PM
3)Take Saw Palmetto extract
Well it seems that it was more the fact that BPH was now causing me to retain an enormous amount of Urine rather than any of the 3 items above.
So the retention was so bad I had to get a catheter Friday, catheters really suck !
But at least the Pee comes out easy. Now waiting for Urodynamic test to see if my bladder is fully functional. Oh the joys of getting older.
So have an Espresso on me, eat dinner after 9PM, and save your money and cancel your order for Saw Palmetto :-(
