I understand the direction to be environmentally friendly, but I am skeptical if this can be practical today.

Internal Combustion (IC) engines will give way to Electric motors in vehicles on technology grounds, not environmental alone. My opinion is that Battery Swapping will be the on road Electric Fuel Service coupled to Recharging when the vehicle is parked. India considers farmers not only as food producers but also as (Electric) Energy producers with the agricultural fields covered by Transparent Solar Photo-voltaic Panels. MIT an EU have initiatives on AgroSolar. The farms will host roadside Battery Swapping Stations where the EVs and ETs can get re-energised.

Bear in mind "farming" in Asia is very different than it is in North America or other less densely populated areas.

This tractor, according to the video, is a 14.75 hp unit that they say can pull a 2 ton trailer (very little resistance) for up to 8 hours.

It seems more like a heavy duty electric UTV than tractor to me.

Best of luck.

Thank you Murf. A farmer's friend operates the electric tractor in the Indian field. A clear advantage is that an electric tractor can be used in a polyhouse; a diesel tractor cannot be (at video 10:40). The vocal explanation is in Hindi. I think google is yet to provide vocal translation; text translation is available. ....

That is very true, but for those types of uses LPG-fueled gas engines are just fine.

In the past almost all the big tractor manufactures offered gas engine tractors equipped to run on LPG right from the factory.

Best of luck.

LPG is a cleaner but still oxygen consuming carbon-dioxide producing fossil fuel. With reduced oxygen, the combustion will be incomplete and even LPG produces lethal carbon-monoxide. LPG (autogas) should not be used in closed spaces, use only electric vehicles. A hydrogen fueled engine will not produce CO2 but will consume O2. That is why we find electric vehicles alone inside an airport. ....

Unless you are talking about a smaller and extremely well sealed building propane is no issue whatsoever. LPG fueled forklifts have been used inside warehouses, factories and greenhouses in North America for many decades. It is very safe.

Best of luck. ....

There would have to be a fee sufficient to pay for the worn out batteries for swapping to work but there would have to be standards in size and design also.

One issue I have with the rechargeable batteries is how about being honest with the side affects of generating the electricity itself. There are cost and pollution with the production of that equipment and many of those options are not near as effective as many think.

Maybe we should promote true horse power. ....

Prof Martin Bazant of MIT in his talk on Ventilation in well-mixed room with Covid-19 infected person : Parking lots have 30 ACH (Air Change per Hour). Or the entire air in the parking lot will be replaced in 2 minutes.

So the warehouses and factories with fossil fueled forklifts must be conforming to 20 to 30 LCH to be safe? ....

No, no where near those levels, OSHA guidelines call for 5,000 CFM for each propane fueled forklift.

That is a little under a 70 foot cube every hour. ....

Kerala Factory rules:
c) " The amount of fresh air supplied by mechanical means of ventilation in an hour shall be equivalent to at least six times the cubic capacity of the workroom and shall be distributed eventually throughout the workroom without dead air pockets or undue draughts caused by high inlet velocities."

This means 6 ACH for factories.

5000 CFM,Cubic Feet per Minute per Forklift looks like OSHA has looked at the oxygen consumption of a propane fueled forklift.

Bazant says that an exercizing person breathes out 3 cubic metre per hour. A forklift therefore consumes 2832 times air than a single person.

I guess that factory ventilation should be more than 6 ACH. ....
