Hydaulic were working fine one minute the gone. Hyrostatic tran works fine. Fluid level is good. Noticed filter was partially smashed long story short I ended up draining fluid. Any way to determine if Aux unit is bad or Steering pump? (Aux feeds steering pump and steering pump feeds loader and lift as well) Also Appears to be a relief valve in control valve. Any way to check this without messing upthecset pressure? I wanted to avoid filling with fluid if a pump is bad

Any funny sounds?

It's been my experience that a sudden loss of pressure, especially after you mentioned the mashed filter, is that a quick-disconnect (QD) fitting got bumped and partially released. This will dead-head the system and do exactly what you're describing.

PArk the machine, shut off the engine and cycle all hydraulic controls more than once, then check that each and every QD fitting is properly connected. disconnect and reconnect if necessary.

Best of luck. ....

Thanks for the reply. No strange noises. I looked for leaks, but did not really pull on all the quick connects, so I will double check. I have also been reading on Hydraulic fluid as CC states to use theirs (at $50 / gallon.). Seen a lot of suggestions, but I am leaning towards using shell Rotella HD fluid. It is rated for Trans/hydraulic systems, wet clutch, etc. It appears Cub Cadet has never provided enough information so one could know for sure what substitute would be OK.

I did buy a tee fitting and guage today to put in line from the pump to check pressure. Should know something this weekend if not before I hope.

Note: The guy who owned this prior to me always took it into the dealer for service, so I'm guessing it always had CC fluid. ....

Google their spec number, I guarantee you it’s going to cross-reference to a generic TDH fluid.

If a QD fitting is not connected properly there will not be any fluid leaking.

Best of luck. ....

I recommend that you use Mystik JT-5

https://www.mystiklubes.com/do/product/AGRICULTURE/663509002

It's specifications meet Cub and the hyrdo tansaxle mfr (Sunstrand) requirements for Super UDT and it surpasses standard HyTran fluids. I have used it for many years in my 6284 with no issues in spite of rugged use. While it is not cheap it is less expensive than buying the Cub branded fluid. ....

Well, guess my pump is bad. Put a tee in line line with a high pressure guage. Never read any pressure. Initially I was turning the steering back forth and had a one loose fitting, and had some fluid flow out of the tee. It was foamy??

Tightened it up. No leak and no pressure. Ran for a couple minutes, and was turning steering again, and activating (trying to activate) the loader. Guess I will be removing pump for repair or replacement. ....

Thanks for that info. Guess I may use that next time. It would still be cheaper than the synthetic rotella i purchashed. How did you determine it was a Cub equivalent fluid. I could not find much ....

I forgot. Another question. It looks like that Aux pump sits high enough that no fluid needs to be drained to remove. Have you ever had to remove yours? I spent enough $$ in fluid at this point ....

Cub doesn't list equivalents in their manuals. The important spec is the SUDT rating. Some Kubota and John Deere tractors require the same. The Mystik JT-5 is SUDT and less expensive than Cub branded fluid.

While you are at it my may want to confirm that your tractor has the factory updated reverse flow filter conversion discussed in Cub Cadet service bulletin CC-566. ....

It might not be the pump.

If the spring in the pressure relief valve breaks it will do exactly the same thing. Ditto a sheared key on the pump shaft. as will a bad priority valve.

Do you still have power steering?

Best of luck.

I believe you may be right about the sheared pin. Removed the pump - at least what I could of it. the last piece, a block which mounts to the trans housing would not pull off. According to the parts diagram it should. It has kind of a dual shaft one for the primary aux, and one for the secondary aux I believe. I started the tractor it it did not spin. i carefully turned with pliers ( covered the shaft to protect it). It did turn. Restarted the tractor and it turned very slowly for about 5 - 10 seconds, then quit. Repeated this a second time. Same thing regardless of engine speed. Before I start pulling off everything to look inside trans, I'd like to be able to pill that last piece of the pump off -- Unless it locked in from the inside. see attached pics.

Thanks ....
