Generally, if the engine runs fairly normally for a minute or so then dies, it's the fuel shut-off relay.

Try to locate the fuel shut-off mechanism and see if you can watch it while someone else starts the tractor to see if it kicks back off, or disconnect the mechanism to it and see if the problem goes away.

Best of luck. ....

Another possibility is a restricted return line. You mentioned blowing out the lines, but did that include the return lines? Also remove the fitting in the pump where the return line connects. It is a check valve that sometimes gets clogged. Remove the check valve and put a bucket under the pump. Start it up and see if it will continue to run. The stanadyne pumps have a history of failing an internal ring in the pump and clogging the check valve, but from everything I see, the 3140's were equipped with Lucas pumps. Is yours a Lucas? Never saw one do that,, but it is possible. ....

If the tractor engine shuts off by turning the key there must be a relay or solenoid the dumps the fuel to stop the engine.

If you have to physically pull out a knob to stop the engine, then no, there would not be a fuel shut off relay.

Best of luck. ....
