Trying to find out if some parts are worn on the shifter or shift adapters. Any help would be appreciated. When trying to shift sometimes it jams up and when I take top off tranny the shift ball is not inside the opening between the two shift adapters. There is grooves in the sides of the shift adapters but cannot determine if it is from excess wear or normal for part. cannot find any NEW parts on net. Please help.

Not sure how yours is built, but I have one which has a cable shift. There are sleeves at the ends, if one of sleeves is missing or damaged it will make it hard to shift and finally as the cable bends more it will just stop working all together. Anyhow, I would check and see if it uses a cable to shift and look at the ends if it does. I just had to have one made for one of mine it ran about 200. Had I had the opportunity, I might have tried making a replacement tube, but I was right in the middle of planting. ....

Thanks for the reply. Mine uses shift forks on slide rods.
The shift handle has a ball on the end that moves inside two shift adapters and these move the shift forks that are in a groove in the gears and slide them back and forth. I do not have any cables at all. ....
