I am currently looking at a Kubota L3000 4wd tactor w/Loader and a JD 790 tractor W/Loader. The Kub. has a little more HP and weight than the JD. Both look like good machines. Does anybody have some input on these two tractors?

You're right, Richard; they're both good machines. Buy the one you "like" best. ....

Richard, be careful when comparing tractor weights from catalogs. As I recall, Deere quotes their weights as "field ready" which includes tires, battery, fluids and I believe a 150 lb operator. Kubota's weights are "shipping weight" without tires, fluids or battery. Weight is a very important criteria in these "compact" tractors since they are generally traction limited. ....

I decided on the JD 790 because the dealer (very large for this area) was very helpful and hopefully will be there if I need service. The other, and maybe more important reason, is that the JD 790 has a subframe mounted backhoe arrangement. Although I have not bought the backhoe yet, I like it better than the 3 PH mounted backhoes. One thing I did not like about the JD 790 is that the lift capacity 24" behind the 3 PH is only 815 lbs. It has not been a problem, but I think the orange has more capacity. John. ....
