The old timers on the board will remember when I used to post pretty regularly, usually about daily. My lack of posting isn't from a lack of intrest or a problem with a poster, nothing like that. It seems that most of the questions anymore involve tractors with names I can't even pronounce. No problem with that either, we need posters no matter their brand, but I just simply don't know enough about any of those brands to offer any thgoughts about the care and feeding of them.
I'm still around.

Frank.

Glad to hear you're alive and well, Frank.

I understand you not posting on the machines you don't know anything about, though that doesn't seem to stop plenty of others (grin). ....

Hardwood,

Sometimes the questions are so specific that it is hard to respond unless you have the same model tractor as the poster. But often your many years of tractor experience can be very helpful in pointing them in the right direction ! Even though you may not have seen that machine..... ....

Dennis;

Yes, I can explain how the basics of a diesel or gasoline engine operate and what is required to make them run. No matter the brand they all work on the same basic principles. The same with transmissions, hydro or gear, they all work on the same principle regardless of brand.

Those aren't the things that throw me, it is the control of those things, the electronics, etc. have replaced levers and knobs with push botton controls. I can fix or explain most things that are still controled with a lever and linkages, but when a computer controls the engine timing, tells the transmission when to shift, etc. I hit a brick wall with any brand.

Questions like, "My XXX Brand Tractor won't start" with few or no other details, I'll help if I can but I need more than that to do the poster much good.

I'm sorta like that fly that won't leave you alone when you are trying to get that after lunch nap in, I'll always be around, so long as God lets me be anyhow.
Thanks for your encouragement and compliments Dennis,

Frank. ....

Frank I hear ya about posting for the different stuff. I feel a little bad also about lack of visit time also.

I'm on a pretty good exercise program get 8-10 hours a week, gym, walk, run, bicycle plus I feel like doing stuff in the shop now. (lost over 70#) now on a maintenance program. The Harley only has about 6,600 miles on it so far this season that is neglected also.

But like the "ole boy" said: "if you don't have time to exercise a couple hours a week do you have time to be dead 24/7." ....

Seems Brother Frank you need Ole Jeffery to get on you!

I very much understand and yes sometimes I will reply to a brand I don't know and it gets proven. But as Dennis and you said the basics still hold. So much is so simple...amd then some so vague as you mention on "does not crank" and some will jump in to give suggesions or thoughts and never a reply.

At times will look at all the active threads and realize, know nothing about any. Then I visit another site and find out they post like crazy and know nothing either. LOL ....
