my 7234 diesel tracter started over reving with out touching throttle turned key off didnt matter had to ride breaks to stall it what do you think

Could be a couple of things. For the simplest, check that the hand and foot throttles are not binding and the return spring is in place.
Meanwhile, prepare in case it happens again. First, toe up the foot throttle in case it was binding down. Then shut off the fuel. I don't know that model but there may be a shut-off at the fuel-filter housing. (You CAN shut down by stalling it or by pulling the decompression lever, but neither is good for the tractor.) ....
