Looking for some ideas on maintaining a beach. I've got about 200 yards by 60 ft. of beachfront. It became more grass than beach over the years before I got it. There's a layer of sand over clay with grass growing almost everywhere, some places sparsely and some quite thick. Would like to make it back into beach. Am willing to bring in sand but am not sure how to prep what's there. Tilling? Discing? I think I should try to turn it over first (not sure how) and then till the heck out of it before I bring in the sand. Anybody got any other ideas?

Tom - This doesn't really answer your question, but I wanted to metnion that you may want to reconsider removing all of the grass. Vegetation helps to stabilize the beach and prevent it from eroding by both wind and water action. Perhaphs you could just reclaim a smaller area for recreational purposes and leave the rest to nature?

Darryl ....
