As of today, I am the proud owner of a broken TZ25DA. While lifting firewood with 10LA FEL, the frame broke in half. It broke on both sides, directly behind the FEL mounting bracket.

Does anyone else know of a recall related to this issue?

If that loader is what NH recommends and supplies for your tractor, and if you didn't modify the lift cylinders or pump, I'd contact a lawyer who practices consumer-protection law. Bring the purchase paperwork and photos of the break, and think about whether you'd want the court action to seek a refund, an equivalent replacement, or the cost of repairs. ....

Update as of 03/21/11.

The FEL, mower deck, canopy etc were all purchased as a brand new, assembled unit from a NH dealer. No modifications to tractor have ever been done other than I added a fan to blow on drivers seat (and it plugs into NH supplied 12v socket under seat). I was good, and didnt modify anything. I contacted NH this AM, and they have already initiated a process (I think they called it a customer relations claim or something similar). They have submitted the claim for repair/replace already. We are awaiting approval/denial at this point, but based solely on the fact that they didn't immedately say "It's beyond warranty by 6 months", I am impressed. I'll update here as things progress, but hopefully, I'll be singing their praises for making it right. So far, I am pulling for them!!!

A promising start. I'm not saying sue, but learn your entitlements. For instance, many states have provisions for an "implied warranty" holding that one day past the explicit warranty doesn't entitle the wheels to fall off on your dime.

Their cheapest option would be a "we'll supply the parts -- all you cover is the labor" repair. It is possible to weld and brace structural members that will be stronger than the factory original (and at negligible parts cost). If offered and you're tempted, first check for unseen damage including the fact that unless both sides failed at the identical moment your tractor may have lost its symmetry. And there's the loss of value were you to sell it with proper disclosure.

In the meantime you can ask for a loaner in lieu of compensation for temporary loss of use and inconvenience. ....

TZ, memory being what it is for me. think have seen this issue with NH before. No idea if same model tractor or not. Do a search on this and see if you don't find a long thread.

Hope you well with this.

Think I found it. Not sure how much it might help you. ....
