I have a YM165D, and when I went out to start it this morning, it would not start, and then I had nothing. Do these tractors have a panel of fuses, or could it be something else? The battery is good, and it has been serviced often. I do not have the owners manual, nor do I have any specs on it as well.
Help!

Yes, they have fuses. Not sure about your 165 but fuse panel is normally lower left hand side right under the dash. I doubt that is where your problem is. Sounds like your tractor turned over some but didn't crank and then it would no longer turn over. Does that sound right? I would check battery and starter terminals. Tap lightly on the starter solenoid, note I said lightly. They sometimes will stick open. If no go there either use a remote starter button or jump across the starter connections and see if it will turn over. Then break out the voltmeter and see if you are getting energizing volts on the small wire going to the starter as you turn the key to crank. Don't necessarily have to do all this in my order. ....

"... it would not start." Details would help.

All three factory manuals in English are available. ....

I appreciate the help. I checked the battery connections, and they are clean and tight, but I still have no lights of any kind. It usually has a light that comes on for the oil pressure, and once the pressure is up the light goes off, but it is not coming on either. That is why I thought that it may be a fuse. I will get the meter out ant start checking from the battery. Thanks again. ....

Check the ground wire where it attaches to frame. Not just for tightness, but clean for good contact. ....

Simstheboss,

I'd check the cables. Sometimes they look fine on the outside, but they can be very corroded internally, under the outer covering.

If you've had badly corroded battery connections in the past, I'd highly suggest a new set of battery cables.

I have an old pickup that wouldn't start. I cleaned the battery clamps, terminals, and the frame mounting point for the ground wire. Still no power. So, I decided to remove the battery cables again and try something new. The red, power cable broke off clean at the clamp. The wires were completely corroded internally.

Joel ....

Are you sure the battery is not drained? You or someone else could have left lights on. Did you try jumping it? ....

Kudos to Winston1, it was indeed the ground at the frame. Thank you so much to everyone who replied to my problem. ....
