I read previous messages that Jinma 284s had issues with the 3pt not raising or lowering that it might be caused by the handle being raised to far allowing the piston to be pulled out of position and the tearing up the rings and spacers when reseated. Since I think that might be the problem on mine I ordered a hyd. lift rebuild kit and a parts manual. I thought the problem was in the lift valve(pg. 158 parts manual) but the rebuild kit looks like I need to take apart the hyd. pwr lift(pg. 148) can I get the piston out without tearing the whole thing down? Probably not an easy way to do this but any suggestions could help save me some time and headaches.

Yes, the problem is in the cylinder seals - not the valve. Your kit should consist of black O-rings and white wipers. There are several sumps - at least three variants I think - but the typical procedure is to drain the sump, remove both the front and back plates. That gives you access to remove the piston from the cylinder to clean and install the new parts.

If that doesn't look right, you may have one of the sump variants where you have to remove the seat and go in from the top.
