A couple of months back I posted bragging on a company located in Winston Salem who made pins and bushings for lower price then from Volvo. They have web site excavatorpins.com.

Want to give you an update on my experience: their prices are great or were for the parts I needed. Joe who is the contract there as all emails and phone calls seem to either go to him directly or he relies to all. Was helpful in what I needed and made suggestions. Just a great guy.

So I placed my order and paid them. Three weeks since I was to have my parts no parts, no phone calls answered or returned and same for emails. First week the parts did not show up he replied to me quickly saying there had been illness causing the delay. Promise to have me parts by August 13th which was a week past when they were to be here.

Wanted to give you guys a warning. I know that is not the only name they use as Excavatorpins.com is just their web site name. The guy's name is "Joe" and the web site told they were owned by the BIG YELLOW MACHINE company. Could find nothing on them. Oh their web site is down right now so I feel they have gone belly up which I hate for them it true but they did not mind ripping me it seems.

In the area of Winston Salem they are in there are one or two other machine shops. Wish I could identify them better for you, and me. Bank has told me I should get my money back since paid them with card.

Kenny, I called that place back when you first posted it. He wanted me to get all the specs for the pins for my skid steer---basically do all his homework for him. I asked in an email why I had to do it (not my job, man) and he never replied back. BTW because my machine wasn't welded squarely, parts rub on the cab. Cost is $1600 for four special eccentric pins to correct it. Normal pins would be $200.

I had a similar situation about 8 years ago where I sent a personal check for $2800 to a company that supposedly made skid steer tracks. They claimed on their website to have a big facility and many employees with international customers. I finally spoke to an employee and he laughed--he said we're in an old 1-car garage with one light bulb for light. Was supposed to get them in a week and it turned into 4 weeks. I went back and forth with this idiot and demanded my money back. I finally got his local police involved along with his his chamber of commerce, his area's attoney general and city prosecutor, and his area's BBB. He was already under investigation for defrauding and they trying to run him out of town literally. He dragged his feet sending me the money back so I went to my credit union and paid $20 for a "reverse electronic deposit". I filled out the papers and three hours later the money was pulled from his account and back into mine. His bank must have called and alerted him because the next day the check came in the mail and my credit union called to tell me he was contesting it on the grounds he sent the check. I didn't contest it providing the check was good and it was.

I was lucky but I have to wonder how many were not so. ....

Dennis, thank you. The experts here are priceless.

Jeff, knew what your opinion was of them. Let me say it now, JEFF was right ONCE. Possibly more.

Auerbach, at least my bank told me it was reversible. Paid with Debit Card. That had me concerned for I knew credit card probably was no problem to get credit. ....

The scary part is if I could do it---anyone could---with bad intentions. At that time there were really no firewalls or safeguards other than the clerks at the credit union taking me at my word that that was what happened. Perhaps the alert they gave the guy, but what if someone forgot to call or could not reach you?

Kenny what was I right about? It happens so often (with you) I can't keep track! Ah hahahaha ....
