The brake has been sticking when pressed down. I have to pull up on it. I've tried greasing. Can anyone tell me how to take off the side axle.

Dannyax,

I have recently experienced the same problem with my brake pedal sticking.

Were you able to repair your's ? and how did you do it ?

Thanks for your help,

Haven't worked on a Kioti but generally one of these:

-brake-lock not releasing
-pedal linkage or spring faulty
-something jamming one or both shoes
-shoe return spring wants replacing ....

Thanks for the input,

I have lubricated the linkage, but have not noticed any improvement. I did NOT notice a return spring anywhere. I am not close to the tractor now to inspect, but I will searce for the return spring next time I get to the 'farm'.

I am guessing maybe the return spring came off or got knocked off while clearing tall brush, etc....

I may not have been clear on the springs.

Usually there's one large pedal spring but a fault here should affect both sides and you'd feel the pedal flopping.

Out of sight there are one or two small springs on each of the four shoes. If they're OK but the shoes are being held by rust and dust, when you're in there is the logical time to replace these springs anyway. ....

Thanks again !

I will inspect as you have directed and see what I find... I have repaired many cars, but this is my first tractor...It seems everything is just a little different.

I probably need to go ahead and bite the bullet and buy the shop manual...

Thanks for your help !

Tractors are much simpler and more accessible but the huge rears generally have to be removed for brake servicing.

The other purpose of the manual is the replacement-part designations. ....
