Hi all, I'm looking for some help on my SU1341. The hydralics won't pick up the tiller, it kind of jumps up an inch or so at an idle, but will not lift all the way. The pump is squealing a little bit. I did drain the oil and replace it, did not help. Would appreciate any help.

Thanks

Could be several things. But given the brief description provided, an initial diagnosis might be that the pump drive has stripped.
1. did you check for a dirty pickup screen?
2. are there any QD fittings in the loop?
3. what else does the pump supply? lift? loader? HTL? remotes? power steering?
4. have you removed the pump for a visual inspection?

No Greg I have not taken the pump off yet. was searching for a filter, this tractor eveidently does not have one. Where will I find the screen, I have not cleaned it. Lastly I have no place to buy parts here, sounds like you know what your talking about, where would I be able to buy a pump if I needed one, any direction would be appreciated. The only thing the pump works is the tiller lift, no quick disconnects.

Thanks ....

The pickup screen should be in the sump. Find the suction line that feeds the pump. Follow it back to the sump. At the end of that line - inside the sump - should be the suction screen.

Shibaura is a grey market tractor, this is a grey market forum, more than one grey market parts seller hangs around here. With luck, one of them with Shibaura parts will see this thread and join in.

QDs can clog up too, stalling the pump. But by your description, only the suction screen could do that on your tractor. Otherwise, the pump drive has quite possibly stripped. Thing is, some external force usually is responsible for jamming those pump drives. If your suction screen is not clogged, you still need to make sure the hydaulic flow around the entire loop is not impeded. Otherwise you might do the same thing to a replacement pump

Hi Greg, I wanted to first of all say thanks, I found and cleaned the screen. The hydralics will now lift the tiller. I have one more question in regards to this. The little lever you pull back to lift the tiller seems to have a top, middle, and bottom, nothing really happens except when you pull it all the way back and it lifts the tiller, then if you let go of the lever the tiller bleeds off and goes to the ground pretty slow, but does go down. Lastly when I put it to what I would think would be the lowering position, no change really takes place.

I'm wondering if theres a valve or something that also needs cleaning or if this is pretty natural for these little SU1341's. Would appreciate your's or anyones elses thoughts on this. Thanks ....
