Go Bottomjumps out of gear

Gator ('01 4x2) jumps out of gear when under a load - i.e. when going up a hill or towing. Any thoughts?

First take the linkage off the transaxle, put it in gear manualy and try it. If it doesn't jump out it's a linkage adjustment, if it does it's probably the shift collar and the forward gear on the input shaft in the transaxle. Happens when you grind the gears to get it into gear. Could also be the pawl on the shift arm broken off and not letting the arm push the collar all the way into gear. Either way the transaxle has to come out. Most dealers won't fix them, they will try to sell you a new one at 3000.00+. ....

Thanks for the response Gatoraider. 3K is a "bit steap." I am willing to pull the transaxle out and replace the gears if the parts are available for individuals to purchase. Can I buy these parts from a JD dealer? ....
