Hello all,
I am trying to figure the simplest way to set the lash between the ring and pinion gear in the final drive housing located at the end of the front axle on a Mt300D or any of the variations that use this front drive,d1650fd,d1850fd, d2050fd. The method is probably the same for any of the machines that use this type of gear drive.
My manual gives the tolerance and obvious instructions but fails to tell you where to measure the play when replacing only the gear housing. Further details are outlined in a rather confusing manner for setting lash when the entire spindle is removed from the axle shaft, but I don't need to remove this assembly. The lower gear housing os a week link on this machine,has anyone done this job.
