Go BottomJD 4600 dies when engauge pto

I have a 1999 JD4600. When I go to engauge the pto it dies. I can pull up on the brake and engauge the pto and it works but when I release the break it dies.I am in the process of getting a manual but if anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Thanks

I had the exact same problem on my 2000 JD 4600. Replaced the switch underneath the seat about a year ago. Haven't had any problems since.This switch is a safety switch that detects weight on the seat.Your problem may be the switch or could be in the wiring harness. Good luck. ....
