I have a 4200 VXD with 72" finish and 60" rough cut mowing decks. My area is rocky and I occassionally shatter a bearing housing. Ventrac bearing housing assemblies (parts 87.0205 LH and 87.0206 RH) are $160. Anyone know of a source for the housings? The old spindles and bearings appear to be good - juat broken flanges on the old housings.

Don't think I have ever seen the machine you have but two questions: is there nothing that can be done to protect the bearing housing? Such as stump jumper or shear bolt or something else?

Second, have you taken the bearing housing itself and looked for a name in the casting or taken it to any tractor dealership to see it it matches another brand. This may require a few visits to different dealerships. But if you could find a name on the housing you then may could narrow it down by phone. ....

Thanks for the comments. I don't know what a stump jumper is. The weak link is supposed to be the blade bolt - grade 5. Sometimes this works - sometimes not. I haven't found any identifying marks on the housing - probably China. I talked again to the Ventrac dealer. Seems like Ventrac is going to a steel housing to replace the cast aluminum. Either the blade bolt will shear or the deck will tear apart. I ordered 3 steel housings to use the old spindles and bearings ($200 vs $500 for three housings vs three complete assemblies) That will give me more time to chase down an after market housing for hopefully less $. Thanks again for the response. ....

dnrsslr,

Thanks for the bearing information from Craigslist. I called Dave in Canton and he gave me additional info. I'll compare to my equipment tomorrow to see if the bearing assemblies are compatible. Thanks again. Hope I can help you sometime. ....
