MTD has given cub cadet a bad name. I think mtd needs to quit makink cubs before they ruin the kohler engines name. If MTD does improve the cubs? What about the ones has allready purchased a crappy cub? we are stuck with a lemon. CUB CADET NEEDS TO BUILD THEIR OWN AND LEAVE MTD OUT .. CUB YOUR NAME IS GOING DOWN FAST!!!! PLEASE WAKE UP

Phillip, are you aware MTD owns Cub Cadet? Just as they do many other "labels".
It is fallen to the purchaser to do their homework more and more before we buy. ....

I don't think it's MTD more than a market-driven thing. PEople can't afford $5,000 lawn tractors. To make lawn tractors like the garden tractors of the past would cost at least that much.
John Deere and others have done the same thing with their tractors.
Just a sign of the times in which we live.
I got a great deal on my 2554 that made it a LOT less than the MSRP of $4,700 or whatever it was. I think the 2500 Series is the best buy out there. ....
