I am having a problem with the hydraulics. When my backhoe is running for 15 minutes or so the sticks become very stiff and the machine makes noises as if it is laboring. I have replaced fluid and called dealer who says it may be a problem with the hydraulic return filter being dirty or something. I have no idea where this is located or even if this is the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! The local dealer says they have not heard of this sort of problem before.

Since you didn't say what the machine is, why don't you call the dealer back for the location of the filter. ....

auerbach, Not sure if you are aware but if you look at the top of the discussion it shows the forum the post is under. As in this case "Cat" but that does not give a type of "Cat". Sometimes that helps me. ....

Considering Wayne only lists one piece of equipment in his profile, a "2004 416D Rubber Tire Backhoe" we must assume this is what he's talking about.
It looks very much like a large oil filter you would expect to see on an engine, but it's not on the engine. LOL
Since you will need a new one anyways just ask them while you're picking it up. We don't have one of those, but I would think it's up under the hood near the hydraulic reservoir like it is on our machines.
If you have an owners manual it will tell you in there where it's located.
Best of luck. ....
