I was mowing with my L4330 HSTC yesterday and using my air conditioner. This is the first time this year that I have used the a/c. I thought I could sense a burn smell. It kept working with no problem. Is this something I should pursue or is it a smell since I hadn't been used since last year? The tractor has 88 hours on it.

A burning smell for any reason can't be good--I'd suspect the fan motor. ....

Often mice will build a nest in a confined space, like your air conditioner and when the coil heats up it can start the nest smoldering. I would check it out. ....

It's more likely the heater controller is either sticky or leaking a bit and the hot water from the engine warmed it up. If there is a spiders web or mouse nest near it it will certainly smell like burning grass for a few minutes.

Lift the top of the cab up and check it's clean up there.

You also need to check that the water flow to the heater core is being fully closed off, otherwise your A/C won't work nearly as well.

Best of luck. ....

8X, what kind of coil would heat up in the AC system? The colder exchanger portion is inside the fan area. ....

Jeff, same as I said in my post, even though he's running the A/C don't forget that unit is also the heater.

If there is still hot water from the engine getting to the heater core it will be quite hot.

Best of luck. ....
