I just got this lawn tractor for free, no engine, no hood, and no front side panels. I was told the original engine was a 12HP. I have a 14.5HP OHV briggs I am putting on it temporarally. It is a vertical shaft engine that was belt driven to a 4 forward speed tecumseh trans at mid chassie and then chain driven to the rear axle. the rear fenders are gold painted from the factory. there was a exact date stamped in both of the inner rear wheels. the date is (April 27,1973). and I do have a model #. The model # is (133-485-033 B). oh and the trans is original and still works. I want to know if it is worth restoring or should I just build a go-kart from the parts

I don't have a clue what make you have.
Do you want to do this just to be doing it or is there an economic reason? Pretty decent riders are a dime a dozen, you likely can buy a complete one cheaper than building it your self. If you have some kids who need something to do this kind of thing keeps them off the street and teaches them a few basics of mechanics. Frank. ....

Gold fenders to me sounds like a big chain private label. Then could they have been painted?
If it was built in 73, how good of shape is the deck, unless a commercial model would think terrible. How about spindles and such. I agree with Hardwood. It is 36 years old. ....

the deck was useable but had a big rust hole in the front. I wanted to build a racing lawn tractor or a monster truck go-cart out of the parts ....
