Has anybody come across a Hard starting condition with the 2wd small gator equipt with the 9hp Kawasaki? Even in warm weather it is a tough start,as it gets colder it can take up to 2 min of cranking to finally fire. Choke & cable are adjusted fine, fuel fitlers good, great spark, just at a loss of why this machine is so difficult. So unlike a Kawasaki........

Does your Gator run ok, between idle and 1/4 throttle, after it starts? Did you remove the air intake hose and actually check to see if the choke is closing all the way when the knob is pulled? Did you try leaving the choke alone and choke the motor with your hand? If so was there good suction at the carb throat? If the Gator runs ok after it starts your symptoms sound like the choke is not working. If it doesn't run ok then there is air jet, air jet passage, compression ( valve lash )or possibly a vaccuum leak around the carb or intake. That motor should fire in less than 10 seconds any time of the year. ....

Answering your question// Yes once the Gator fires and runs it is fine after it starts, however on certain ocassions once it is fully warmed up it will just "die" you could be driving along and it will just stall like a kill switch was activated. once stopped it will fire right up and resume, this happens every once in a while.....hmmm ....

Another problem that comes to mind is the ground circuits. I would check EVERY ground lug for cleanliness and tightness. Also the black wire that goes into the main harness into the stator ( along with the 2 green ones) is the kill wire from the ignition switch to the coil. Make sure that wire is not bare somewhere and intermittently hitting ground. ....
