My membership expired in Oct. 2007. If I renew now does that cover me for 12 months going forward or does it go retroactive from the point of my previous expiration?

It applies to the 12 months from the date you renew not your lapsed renewal date. ....

I renewed my membership and it renewed from my previous expiration and not going forward and now says my membership expired in October of 2008. What is going on? ....
