Okay, so I am at a crossroads. Just found the first used 2305 near me in the past 3 months of searching. JD has 100 hours and the dealer sold it to the first owner so they know it was babied. Has 62" deck and bagger. Will add a FEL.

New BX1850 with 54" deck (biggest I can put on the (1850), bagger and FEL.

Both price out with the JD $500 more all in. Advantage to Kubota is 0% 42months. Not a deal killer though.

Both are overkill in my 2 acre yard - ain't life grand? :) JD has bigger mow deck, more HP and probably a bigger bucket (can't imagine that matters). Will use for mowing, leaf pickup and snow removal on a 600ft drive with large parking area, plus misc jobs around property. I like that the 2305 is backhoe ready should I want one some day.

Which would you choose and why?

TIA.

What might the price difference of a new 2350 Kubota be with your 60" deck? I think it looks like for about the same price as a used, you will be able to have new! Not to tough of a decision! ....

Good point Art. I haven't received a full quote from the dealer on the 2350 w/ 60" mow deck but I believe it to be about $2500 more than the BX1850 and therefor $2000 more than the used Deere. Maybe with discounts it would be closer to $1500 more than the Deere.

The 60" deck isn't mandatory for my yard. Rather its a nice to have since the used one happens to have it. But, since even the 1850 is overkill for my yard, I'm not sure going to the 2350 just to get the bigger deck is necessary. ....

Both are overkill so the deciding factors are color, money and new versus used. Kubota is less money by $500 plus the value of no interest for 42 months. If you owe anyone money that you could use your cash to pay off those debts, then that could be a considerable amount of money or if you are borrowing the money to buy the Green. Orange is a beautiful color to alot of people. New versus used to me is worth a fair amount of money and usually is to most people. I realize that everyone doesn't think like me on new vs used. Guess bottom line is paying a considerable amount of more money for something that you don't need like the larger deck and more hp. Warrenty, should it be needed should be longer on the new vs used and repairs if needed are not cheap.
Course you are on the Kubota forum. :) ....

There is about 1500 difference. A normal note at current interest would put the BX2350 cheaper unless you have the cash. ....

the 1850 is not really an "apples to apples" comparison to the 2305. The Kubota BX 2350 is a more appropriate comparison. The 1850 is an 18 hp, the 2350 is 23 hp. the 2305 is 24 hp.
I have negotiated prices on both the 2350 and the 2305 and the 2350 equally equipped with mower deck and FEL, is about $2,000 less than the 2305. Cosmetically, I favor the 2305, and I have been JD owner and fan for years, but I believe the Kubota diesel engine is superior to the Yanmar, and I believe the Kubota is a better value. Both are tough machines. I have been told that the independent deck lift is superior to shared with rear PTO. Anybody have comments? Please? Independent lift on the JD is another $1,000 on the 2305 and from what I hear, you cannot get it on the Kubota.
I am leaning toward the Kubota 2305 ....
