I have a new Kubota B26TLB with two hoe buckets. I am trying to change buckets but cannot get the attached bucket to release. I have tried the usual methods - removing the pin, rotating the bucket, etc. I have even tried hitting it with a sledge hammer but it will not budge. It appears that there may be some dried paint at the contact points but it seems unlikely that paint alone would withstand the sledge hammer. I intend to take the problem up with the dealer but am wondering if you guys have any ideas. The salesman has told me "Don't be afraid to hit it with a hammer" but I can't believe that is the only solution.

I think you'll find it's just a combination of close tolerances and friction.
What we do is remove the wrist pin, the one between the dipper and bucket only, then move the back hoe (GENTLY) as if to dig, this will pop the bucket out of the dipper arm. Now release the pin between the curl cylinder and bucket and using the dipper arm to hold the bucket down, try to retract the curl cylinder.
BTW, think it's tough now, wait till you try getting the other bucket on!
Best of luck. ....

Murf! You're a genius (but you knew that). Your suggestion worked like a charm. Even better, the new bucket attached smoothly. When I examine the bucket I removed, it looks as if it got misaligned slightly, either when it was attached or by hitting something along the way. Anyway, thank you.

Genius? Nah, just a case of "been there, done that, and the T-shirt didn't fit!". ;)
However, if I could get you to send an email to my gal saying I'm a genius.... on second thought, never mind, she'd never buy it. LOL
Seriously, happy to be of assistance.
Best of luck. ....

Murf, it would be easy to jump into this on her buying it. Now when you really want EW where is he? Did he disappear with the melting of the snow (it has melted in Michigan, right)? My guess is your gal is like my gal, she has already bought a lot and most of it is not returnable. :) kt ....
