cub starts ok but as soon as I take my foot off the brake it stops, is the safety switch on the seat the problem, or in the brake?

Jbontrager,

I suppose it's possible that the pressure you're placing on the brake pedal, could be just enough to force you back into the seat. When you remove your foot from the brake pedal, the pressure on the seat could be reduced just enough to break the circuit in the seat safety switch.

This should be fairly easy to troubleshoot.
