Why is it that Cub Cadet can't put better cables on their 33" walk behind mowers? I have had to replace 2 calbes on each of the mowers I have. Currently they are both our of commision waiting on the thier 3rd cables. I know others are having the same problem. Surely Cub Cadet is going to resolve the issue?

I would definatley not suggest buying one of these mowers until they do something about this.

Here's an automotive-related phrase you haven't heard since the mid-1980's that applies to your situation:

Planned Obsolesence.

Short term, these companies are selling cheaply made, not so cheap cost-wise---mowers. If you didn't buy parts (many times over) or a new mower every few years you wouldn't be a returning customer---fact is you likely won't be returning. But you will have to go to another competitor who is just as bad or worse. And chances are the "competitor" is owned by them anyway.

So how do you break the cycle?

Simple. You have to stop buying "residential" stuff and go strictly "commercial".

But even then you have to go to the "mid- to high-end commercial" because the companies are one or even two steps ahead of you by offering something just a little more reliable than you bought from them at Home Depot. Commerical users won't put up with things like bad cables and engines that don't start. We spend big money on things that better last or we throw the biggest hissy fit you have ever seen---and the companies know and respect that. ....
