Over the past few months we have had posters post messages of discontent because they didn't like the answer they got, or whatever. So what brings you here?

EW, you may wish to add and what keeps you here.

What brought me here was looking for info on boom mower. Bumped into some great guys with good advice (hope you have a good piggy bank or such) and keep finding such advice.

The friendship you can develop and concern for others needs and projects keeps me here. Oh yeah the advice helps!Has saved me money and time even this week. :) kt ....

I've been trying to remember what my first post was about, but can't, just too long ago. The owner of the local Deere dealership is the one who first gave me the web address for TP, I don't think I've ever saw him post, but I'm sure he is a member. That's kinda how and why I joined, now why do I stay? We from TP for the most part stay in the country away from the big city's, till a bit of soil, enjoy the wildlife, repair or build things, drive tractors, etc., We seem to share a common bond with those things. Even tho I've never met any of you face to face I almost feel like I've lived next door neighbors to the regular posters. All in all, just a nice place to share ideas, ask questions, etc. I plan to stay around for the long haul. Frank. ....

I'm new and I hate everybody. Actually, all of my posts have been well recieved and answered. I have tried to return the favor, but only having had my machines for a year I am limited in knowledge. But, I do know everything else worth knowing in life.
If I ever meet Murph, I might hit him over the head with a pipe because it looks like has some cool stuff I could really use. Looking at the wood spitter, I mean, come on! I want one of those. But I'm also old enough now to know that that wood spitter doesnt even have to run (I'm sure it does)- most of the fun would be putting it together. ....

I came here a few years ago with newbie questions regarding the purchase of my first tractor. Folks here were very helpful and friendly and the camaraderie keeps me coming back (plus it's good to give something back when possible). ....

This forum to me is like that first cup of freshly ground coffee on a Sunday morning. I feel comfortable, welcome and try to give back as much as I receive, which is difficult most of the time as most everyone here is trying to do the same thing :)

I must admit, I come here often to read and relax. A bit selfish on my part. ....

I signed up here in 98/99 and another site. There have been many changes over the years.

The other site was so SAFETY FREAK oriented I almost puked. "If you don't have a tilt meter etc BLAB, BLAB, BLAB, you are stupid etc, etc, etc..."

This site is waaaayyyyyy more connected to common sense and experience. Now and then there are google responses but for the most part good ole Been there done that experience.

Wish I could spend more time here during the construction season.

Kleinchris check out my splitter :-)

Harvey ....

Chief called me at my business number and we chatted awhile about tractors & tractor accessories, but mainly cease and desist orders.

He (Randy) apparently offered to build a 3 point hitch adapter to one of the TP forum members like one he had made for himself and got a cease and desist letter. He was aware of our product and wondered if we received a C & D from Summit as well. I did naturally, and we joked about patent law, patent claims and getting around them and ventured into military, guns, boating, hunting, farming, gardening and the list goes on and found that we shared lots of common interests. He suggested that I view and join TP.

I've been a member for a number of years now and have recently become a full time advertiser. I have a rural and farm up-bringing so I'm very familiar with most of the tractor stuff. I have a wealth of knowledge to offer but have also picked-up considerable knowledge along the way. I started driving tractors at about 8 years old and fixing things shortly thereafter.

I spend way too much time viewing TP posts but find it informative and relaxing. It is a great escape from my engineering world and the stresses from trying to make a living as a supplier to the automotive industry.

KlienChris, Harvey's the guy with the Binford model 10,000 turbo wood-splitter. :) But thanks anyways.

I came here in the first place, many years back now, looking for ideas for new implements and some idle chatter. At the time I was debating going back into the fabricating business, and making implements and tools for CUT's, I still haven't done it full-scale, but do make lot's of stuff for our own business (building and maintaining golf courses).

I was brought up such that those who knew, guided and taught those who WANTED to know.......

I agree, it's the friendly relaxed attitude here that keeps me coming back.

BTW, for those interested, the next project is a self-propelled woodsplitter, you drive it to the wood and it picks up & splits the wood for you. Probably including a small elevator to then put the split wood into a truck or trailer directly.

Best of luck.

Murf I've been married to one of the wood machines you describe for 35 years (120+ man years) she's just not as efficient as she used to be.:-)

I saw a little grapple cart that would be the cats butt with a couple more big hydraulic pumps on the Binford 10,000 along with some hydraulic motors to drive some tractor wheels... hydraulic steering. Time to look in bone yards for a old loader frame or tractor frame...

Harvey ....

Harvey, I have the same problem. :)

Except in this case I already have a 12hp riding tractor as a donor for most of the drive train and rolling stock.

Although, I do have an old Isuzu truck, hmmm, a 50mph road speed might be handy too...... ;)

Best of luck. ....

I think Harvey and Ken summed up my thoughts well on this topic. TP has always been a well grounded, down to Earth, and common sense place that has brought me much enjoyment not to mention a LOT of great ideas and information. When it comes to diplomacy and "pithy" comments ;O) ; I am a work in progress getting better each day but I must say that Mark always seems to be a source of elightenment and a good laugh at just the right time. Dennis has always been a very kind and generous host. Lord knows Murf and I caused Dennis to loose whatever hair he has when we got busted for some comments about another website. ;-) There is a LOT more than meets the eye involved in running a great website and Dennis does a great job. ....

Randy, I represent that remark!!! ;)

It must be the GI khaki green GI blood that makes us that way.

Best of luck. ....
