May need to add weight to back of Kioti 25 to assist with FEL. Would like to hear from others on how they resolved this matter?

At this time I probably will not have the tires loaded. Any & all opinions will be welcomed. Thank you very much!

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation' service.

Kid; I'll answer your post in reverse order. Yes we owe the highest of respect to the fallen who have protected the life we enjoy.
I' won't get into the liquid ballast thing too far, there are numerous threads from the past on this. some swear by it, some like me swear at it. Too many memories of corroded rims, tire tubes rustred to the rim, etc. all bad memories to me. Factory wheel weights are expensive and clumbsy to handle if you want to lighten up for mowing etc. Ballast boxes are OK, but kind of a waste of money if you think you are going to need a box blade for anything in the future. I really haven't compared, but I'm guessing a factory ballast box, Blue, Orange or Green plus a little to boot would get you a low dollar, (Fleet store brand) box blade that can do a lot of work for you. Ballast boxes always seemed to me like a lot of money that could be better spent. Frank. ....

First thing to do...... read the owners manual and get the manufacturers recommendations for how much weight is required.

I know, I know reading the owners manual is a lot like asking directions when you are driving in a strange town, but sometimes you gotta.

Deer sez my tractor needs more ballast than you can put in (or on) the wheels, so sometimes it is not an either-or situation. ....

I'd do with the box blade hands down. It will help as ballast and more importantly it will be there to grade with. Once you have it on you won't want to remove it. I welded a D-ringon the back of mine for pulling stuff like a drag when fine-grading. I want to add a small section of reciever hitch tube to it so I can slip a traler ball in there when I need. If I had a ball out there permanently it would get in the way of backing up to a wall when grading. ....

EW; That's a good idea on the reciever tube. The local fleet store has all kinds of reciever parts to kind of build your own. Frank ....

Most Kioti's weigh in well do to their design although I don't know of their balance from front to rear with a loader. I normally like to start with the rear wheel weights and often just a couple of sets of those make a tractor comfortable on our hills with light or moderate loader work. To go to full heavy loader work I like rear ballast. This is the best way to overcome possible excess strain from heavy loader work taking it's toll on the front axle. Some people have overloaded the front axle before they even get a full bucket as they have a loader that is to heavy empty and far more load capacity then the front axle can carry. Some have even loaded the front tires making the power steering sytem work harder as well as every pivot and joint on the front of a tractor. At this point they have effectively built themselves a under powered over weight or just a fat tractor that carries a heavy load even to just move the tractor!

As far as putting a reciever hitch on the box scraper, the one thing that that scares me is the fact of what ever you are hooked to has the ability to ride the three point hitch up to it's max and blow out the cylinder. It can and has happened from this type hook up so be sure it is for limited use and not on hills! ....

Art the receiver tube for a trailer ball is meant only for moving trailers around the yard that I know the positive tongue weight of (versus negative weight which will lift the hitch). The reciver tube could also be used to install a vertical tube to be used as a quick boom crane. And since I have hydraulic top link it make the crane idea ene more usefull from loading the generator in the pickup to toting tree transplants around.

But I'm jis' sayin'... ....

I agree with others that a box blade is a great counter balance and probably the most useful tool one can attach to the 3 pt. The only problem with a box blade vs. a ballast box is you can fix the ballast box to the frame so you can lower the mower and use it w/o having to take it off (at least on a Kubota you can)and you can not fix the box blade...you have to take it off to mow.

If you find yourself using the FEL a lot along with the mower, constantly removing the mower can be a hassle whereas with a ballast box you can just leave it on.
