Hi, I have a 4210 flashing a code short, long, long, short. Seems to work o.k., but smells like burning rubber for a short time after start-up. Can't find the problem. What's with John Deere, not including these codes in the owner's manuals?? Can anybody tell me what to check? Thanks!

That's a MFWD speed sensor code. The cruise control will be disabled and performance will suffer a bit without it. Sometimes under tractor wiring can get caught and damaged. You might crawl under the tractor and inspect all the wiring and connections before doing anything else. ....

BTW, the manual pictorial shows the MFWD sensor to be mounted somewhere under the left side of the seat. The code will flash if it's out of calibration. ....
