I'm new to the discussion, and have posted this matter at the "Other Brands" as well. I have just brought home an International tractor that has the following:
It's yellow in color, not red.
The sheet metal appears to have a faded "674" for model.
It's a 3 cyl diesel w/delco alternator.
The exhaust manifold runs down & muffler is under tractor.
It has a ROPS that appears to be an older OEM type.
There is no fuel tank under hood, but there is a large tank mounted to the back of the ROPS, behind driver.
It has power steering.
Serial # 041265BSY
Problem: That Serial # seems to conflict with all the phone & internet info I've retrieved so far for a model 674. Also, the info I have seen/heard refers to gas as well as diesel motors. And, I've seen UK, Germany & US origins of manufacture for it and/or its parts. Can someone help me confirm what tractor this is in model, motor & size, approx year, etc.?

Country, if you hunt around eBay or other places on the 'net there are lots of people who will sell you either an old paper service / parts book, or a CD of the same information for not much money.

Best of luck. ....

Country, the serial number does not match up for the tractor but those sometimes aren't that important. Is it really a three cylinder? The serial number plate on those tractors is not on the front edge of the clutch housing by the engine on the left where I believe you got that number from but on the left hand side of the transmission housing that you straddle. It is fastened on by two rivets and sometimes they have come off. ....

Art:

Yes, I did get that Serial # from a Tag that's riveted onto the left side of the front of the Clutch housing. When I say left, I mean left from seated position on tractor.

I did see a flat/smooth spot on the transmission housing near the left leg. This area looked to be a place that a model/serial tag might belong. However, I don't see any indication of it having had rivets in this area. ....

Your left leg area is where the serial number on the tractor would be. The tag you have is the serial number for that housing not the tractor I believe. I never saw any way for those two tags to tell one from the other although some one with inside info more then dealers had might. ....
