Aloha All,
Has anyone upgraded a CC 7205 to have dual rears? I've seen JD's with duals, but never a CC. The only local CC dealer has not a clue. I'm looking for increased stability as some of my rows get a little tippy with rocks and roots.

There has been duals for many different tractors as well as styles to mount them. The best mount is an axle mount with an extended hub from the axle but not available for this application. The next is with the use of spacers from the original hub but they prove to be the weak link. There are also what's called snap-on duals and they might be available but by the time you are set up with rims tires and the hardware might have about a grand more in the tractor. Many of the older compacts with tuals were two wheel drives and they were used for floatation as well as ballast to assure the rear would stay down. You might first check to see if the wheels you have now might not be able to be moved out. ....

We experimented with duals a few years back for working on sensitive turf areas.
The experiment failed, CUT's dont have the beef needed and putting on duals adds a lot of stress, basically you are putting a lever on the end of the axle. Then, any time there is a change in the ground level, side to side, you are putting all the weight on the outside tire.
We had several broken axles and hubs, and few bent rims.
For steep terrain, I would suggest you look at a machine designed for such work, like one of the Italian vineyard machines. Those things run up & down hills like mountain goats.

You can lower the tractors center of gravity by down-sizing the tires and wheels a bit. Wheel weights will help also.
Is your tractor like the one in the link below? (Minus the snow of course!)
