A few months back, I checked out this website and read through a lot of the Kubota, John Deer, and New Holland postings regarding tractors in the 30 hp range. I want to say I appreciate comments from all the folks who contribute to this site because it helped me narrow my decision. Key messages I read on the site and heard in my discussions with others were: 1) make sure you get a front end loader; 2) make sure you get a big enough tractor; and 3) make sure you get 4WD. I am so glad I based my decision on all of this advice.

I live on 20 acres, 11 of which I need to mow. I settled on the Kubota L2800 4WD with a FEL, Bush Hog (with a sheer bolt), and Ag tires for about $16,800. The L2800 is not Kubota's newest model but I certainly have appreciated it. 29 hp / 24 hp PTO has proven adequate to the task. I originally debated whether I might be able to get by with something a bit smaller to save some money, but I'm so glad I didn't because the power & size have come in handy when moving old trees, cutting thick brush, etc.

25 hours and it's been so far / so good.

Good for you. I feel the same way about my L3400 (gear). I was planning on a B7800, but when I found the L3400DT was actually cheaper, I couldn't go wrong!

Make sure to have the dealer replace the 3 point control valve before the warranty is up. This is a repair to lessen the jerkyness of the lift, especially with something like a brush hog on the back.

No other complaints about mine! ....
