Hey folks,
I've had 2 back surgeries and looking over my shoulder while bouncing around at any speed is wearing me thin. I'm thinking about getting a MMM on my B7800. How much does a six footer cost? What's the difficulty in putting it on and removing it? What's the max cutting height? Any and all responses are greatly appreciated.

Ted

Cost i don't know what that whould be for the whole kit, maybe somewhere around 2000. Three spring loaded pins, front link and and pto shaft. Might be able to drive over it to get it under the tractor instead of pussing it under not for sure. ....

Ball park that it would take 3000 as the 7800 also needs a mid pto to run it. ....

I've had one for two mowing seasons now and it's great. Very easy to install. The 6' version has reinforcements that allow you to drive over it for installation. I can put mine on in about 3 minutes. ....

I have had the 6' drive over MMM for 3 years now and I LOVE IT!!! I have 10 acres and mow probably 4 of it. After mowing it looks like a golf course. Only problem I have had was a swing-arm (I do not have the exact name of the part :-)) weld broke at the weld point on both sides on the deck itself. Fortunately it was covered by the warranty. The dealer told me it was becasue I was mowing at high speeds and my property gets a little bumpy in some spots. I guess it was too much side to side movement and tourque on the welds. ....

I use the RC72-27B MMM on my B7800 to mow about 12 acres of varied terrain and cover, ranging from lawn grass to 4' field grass. It is much, much easier to install and remove than was a similar MMM on my B2150. Dealer charged me $2800 for it when I bought the tractor in '04. Maximum cutting height would depend on where you set the wheels; ranges from 1.5 to 4 inches. I'm 68 years old and have several problems that make it difficult for me to manipulate equipment; but I can get the mower on and off without much trouble. Though I do find that the easiest way to connect the drive shaft to the mid-PTO is to slide under the tractor from the back and reach up with the universal in hand. ....

If bouncing around is an issue, what kind of tires do you have on the machine? R4s are incredibly stiff riding tires. Some folks have put automotive radials on smaller machines to smooth out the ride, but turfs would certainly be an improvement over R4s. ....

Art I assume it could be done but is it a kit to add a center PTO to a 7800 or do you have to buy each piece? Is this something that needs to be done by a trained professional or could someone do it who had plenty of mechanical skills? Roughly how much would it cost and how long of a job is it? ....

The center section of the tractor has a plate that has to be removed and the gearbox installed. It depends on your ability. Flat rate isn't very long but about 1/2 hour but to have a couple hours for the first time and some good tools it can be done. ....
