I have a Case IH 245 that idles and moves at idle speeds without any problems. However it does not have any power when a load is placed on the tractor. Whenever a load is applied a lot of black smoke comes out of the exhaust and the tractor wants to stall.

It has been suggested that I replace the injector pump or get it rebuilt. I have been surfing the net to find some pictures or instructions to help me do this. I have ordered a manual but it may not be in for a week to ten days.

Help would be appreciated.

B4 U-go after your injector pump. Have U checked your intake air flow?

Sounds more like an air issue. Plugged intake, filter, hose came apart, something out of the ordinary.

From time to time we find brakes that are not used often on hydro tractors will freeze up from rust if all else is normal and correct. ....

There is good air flow being taken in and the brakes are ok.

Thanks

The black smoke indicates a rich mixture. I would be interested to know how well the injectors them selves not the pump are functioning. Are the popping off too early, or leaking, are they atomizing the fuel properly. Plus they are a whole lot easier to remove and install than the pump is. I would suggest you remove them and take them to a repair shop and get them pop tested. Most will test them for little to no charge. ....
