Great site!!
I Just came across this site today...the day I BOUGHT a 2002 4210. Goes to figure, if I knew of this site 2 weeks ago I could have been much better prepared for the purchase.
That's just my luck...
My question is: on 2002 4210 with 165hr with backhoe and loader, are there any major concerns with that model and/or year with those impliments?
Also, (i think...) $16250 was a good buying price.
Any input??
I heard it is wise to c/o the Hyd oil and screen at this time. What do you think?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

It was through a private company in CT.
I found it through a weekly local (NE regional) Heavy Equip Trader.
I was very impressed with his approach to business...honesty and value!
His name is Dave and his company is Tri-town Equip in Bethany, CT. I do not know if "selling" of a particular person or business is frowned upon in this site so I apologise in advance if I broke protocol.
Question: any advise on servicing on a 4210 with 165 hrs?

Great deal! If there are no records of having the 50 hour service done I'd recommend doing it now to be sure. Maybe the dealer can look up the service records. ....

I think I would change all the fluids. Sitting can be as hard as running. Your tractor has logged less than 8000 miles (if it were a car) in 3.5 years or so. Sitting the fluids can absorb water which can cause problems. If you plan to work it now it would be best to change the fluids, hydraulic, motor oil, power steering, front axel and coolant. ....

Welcome to Tractor Point Dave! I'll definitely second the comments that you did well without us as well as changing ALL the fluids and filters. Not to mention a good going over with a grease gun to purge all of the grease fittings. If you didn't get it when you purchased the machine, definitely buy ALL of the owner's manuals and shop manuals to help you maintain the machine. John Deere Hy-Gard is OUTRAGEOUSLY high (like $50 per 5 gallon pale) so any good quality qualifying after market fluid like Shell DONAX TD or Chevron All Weather THF is cut the mustard. The OEM filters are about as competivly priced as the after market filters. A good quality diesel fuel additive such as Power Service (around $10 at Walmart) or better yet Stanadyne Performance Formula is not a bad idea either. Go over your machine per the operators manual with a good torque wrench and verify torque on all the bolts and wheel lugs. Don't forget to chech & verify tire pressures too. Basicly, just establish a good maintenance base line and follow it as per the OEM operator's manual for good care and feeding and you should have years of good service. ....

I really appreciate the advice.
I am getting the machine delivered next Friday so I'm trying to prepare for maintenance.
Also, there are Service Manuals on Ebay (on CD only) that seem to sell for $15 to $25. What do the hardcopy manuals (owner's and service manuals) cost from the dealer?

You can (or used to be able to) download the owners manual from the JD web site. Hardcopy manuals are spendy. I think the service manual is around $80-100, but worth it IMO. The parts manual is good to have, too, because it shows assembly breakdowns. ....
