Does anyone have a good source for purchasing Kubota batteries. I have a B5100 and a B7100 tractor which requires new batteries. The local Kubota dealer wants around $90.00 each. I have tried to purchase a off brand battery but Kubota battery holder only will fix a Kubota battery. Can batteries be shipped UPS?
Any suggestions would be most helpful.

If the dealer is charging $90 for a standard lead acid battery; that does sound kind steep to me. If you can find a model that will fit and has the minimum cranking amps; I would strong recommend going with an Optima or other AGM battery. No corrosion problems and they will last longer and hold up better in my opinion. Here is a line to a place that sells them on the net with free shipping. You will have to shop around and compare prices and brands. ....

I believe that the battery type number is 015 with a cold cranking performance of 350 amps. The problem I have with other batteries is the size. They will not fix into the battery holder. When Kubota built these tractors they wanted to make sure that you can only use a Kubota battery. ....

Let's look at this from another side. What vintage are these tractors? Not like they are only four or five years old!!! How long of life do you get out of your car batteries and what do they cost? ....

Run into this all the time. Here is the straight skinny.

Look at the CCA, and battery polarity.
Measure the cavity. buy the cheapest battery that meets that spec. (since about 1982, most battery warrentees are a joke)

there is NO Magic.

Mods, only if needed.
get a longer battery cable if you have the "wrong" polarity. KMart, Walmart, and many places.

it is NOT a sin to modify the tray.

I always get the biggest battery I can cram into the space ..........
